Human Performance

The performance of leaders, managers, and staff members is powerfully constrained by organizational structures, systems, culture, which is in turn shaped by the business environment. Pressure to increase productivity is felt keenly by most employees because they are expected to do more with less - with no down time. Unlike the computer industry’s ability to double the amount of computer memory in a chip every year, studies have shown that the information processing capability of the human brain remains more or less constant. Consequently, people need short cuts (judgmental heuristics) that enable them to effectively process increasing amounts of information, interact in more and more relationships, and manage the ever-growing demands on their time and energy. Within this global-cultural context, the Breckenridge Institute focuses on building:

  • Personal Competency
  • Professional Competency
  • Social Competency
